Join us for a special Faculty Concert during Reunion Weekend featuring extraordinary compositions by four distinguished composers from our Hobart & William Smith Colleges Composer's Sandbox Summer Intensive program.
The evening will showcase works by Mark Olivieri, Associate Professor of Music at Hobart & William Smith Colleges, whose music has been performed at Carnegie Hall and featured on NPR; Marc Mellits, acclaimed composer and associate Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago and one of the most performed living composers in the United States; Jennifer Jolley, Associate Professor of Music and Composition at Lehman College, whose work explores the intersection of music and provocative subjects like climate change, #MeToo, feminist history and political abuses; and Evan Williams, Berklee College of Music faculty member whose music exploring social justice themes has been performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
The Composer's Sandbox Summer Intensive gives emerging composers a unique opportunity to study with these renowned faculty while developing new works with musicians from the acclaimed Society for New Music. This two-week intensive culminates in professional performances and recordings of student compositions by the Society for New Music All Stars
